ONLINE WORKSHOP Sunday, June 11th 1pm - 4pm PDT with Michael Shanks Workshop Level: Intermediate to Advanced Not sure what the differences are between prepping for an audition vs prepping for being on set? What should you look for when you first read a script? Does script analysis intimidate or confuse you? No matter what your method of acting is, knowing how to break down a script effectively and efficiently is vital in the Film & TV industry. Take the stress away from your next audition or acting gig with The Ultimate Preparation Guide Workshop with actor, writer and director Michael Shanks! Michael is best known for his work as Dr. Daniel Jackson on Stargate SG-1 for 10+ seasons and as Dr. Charlie Harris on Saving Hope for 5 seasons. Other notable work includes recurring roles on Burn Notice, Altered Carbon, 24 and Smallville and as the titular lead in the TV movie Mr. Hockey: The Gordie Howe story. He's excited to use his training from the BFA program at UBC and Stratford Festival as well as his extensive experience both in front of and behind the camera to help students up their game. Concepts explored in this workshop include: “Breaking free” from your prep during your performance Gleaning information from the script that others will miss Receiving and clarifying directions given on set And more After taking this workshop, students will have a better understanding of the ways you can dive deeper into a scene for both self-tapes and acting gigs. Students will discover how script analysis can actually be the most exciting and revelatory process for an actor!
