What to Expect
ONLINE WORKSHOP Saturday, September 18th 10am-12pm with Sabrina Rani Furminger Do you need attention from media outlets like newspapers, radio stations, and podcasts to grow or sustain your acting career? How do you get media attention in the first place? When you finally have it, what should you say? What’s the difference between advertising and publicity and marketing? What does a publicist do? Do you need one? In this two-hour class, award-winning film and television industry journalist Sabrina Rani Furminger will break down the fundamentals of media relations for actors. Sabrina will define key terms, discuss the pros and cons of pursuing media attention, provide how-to’s and what-not-to-do’s, and pull back the curtain on the world media relations. Show business is a business, and the media is part of that business. Like all businesses, there are a lot of moving parts in media that can seem confusing to the uninitiated. Sabrina's class demystifies the mystery of media relations, and is geared towards actors. Actors will leave the workshop with the tools they'll need to craft effective marketing and publicity strategies – and make informed decisions – moving forward.
