ONLINE WORKSHOP Sunday, October 1st 1pm - 3pm PDT* with Keara Barnes Pre-requisites: None but some acting experience will prove helpful for context *Time may be adjusted based on enrollment* Want to create/produce a play but don't know where to begin? Do you have a story idea that would make a great theatre production? Curious about entering theatre festivals but don't know where to start? Creating your own work can be one of the most artistically satisfying experiences, however it can also be one of the most intimidating ones. Actor, writer, producer & director Keara Barnes has been through it all and will take you through the entire process in "Producing Your Own Work for Theatre". This introductory workshop will help you to break down each step of the production process from idea to story creation to marketing your new show. Keara Barnes is a multi-award-winning actor, writer, producer & director from Vancouver, B.C. She is the Artistic Director of Standing Room Only Theatre, through which she has created and performed two one-woman shows, Almost a Stepmom and TravelTheatrics, which cumulatively toured Western Canada for four years to critical acclaim, sold-out runs, and media coverage by Global TV, CBC & The Vancouver Sun. Concepts explored in this workshop include: - Shaping the story you want to share with brainstorming exercises - Building your team - Navigating the world of indie theatre producing - And much more!
