How do you get media attention in the first place? When you finally have it, what should you say? What’s the difference between advertising and publicity and marketing? What does a publicist do? Do you need one? In this two-hour class, award-winning journalist, former publicist, and small business owner Sabrina Rani Furminger will break down the fundamentals of media relations for artists, athletes, solopreneurs, and small business owners. Sabrina will define key terms, discuss the pros and cons of pursuing media attention, provide how-to’s and what-not-to-do’s, and pull back the curtain on the world media relations. There are a lot of moving parts in media that can seem confusing to the uninitiated. Sabrina's class demystifies the mystery of media relations, and is geared towards individuals from all sectors. Participants will leave the workshop with the tools they'll need to craft effective marketing and publicity strategies – and make informed decisions – moving forward.
