About Us

How It All Started...

Founded in January 2012, film industry professional and acting instructor Michele Partridge opened The Drama Class (The Drama Class) in White Rock as there was a lack of creative spaces for performing artists to learn their craft.

Our mission statement is simple.
Our training has to be FUN and EDUCATIONAL.

We provide a nurturing and inspiring environment for actors of all ages to learn, create and perform.

We have 10 instructors who teach our session programs and every session we offer one-day workshops with guest instructors who are the best in their field.

In April 2020, due to Covid-19, TDC had to close their fabulous studio in White Rock, B.C. But TDC has successfully continued to offer program online.

TDC has become one of the top acting studios in the lower mainland and now has students across North America, Australia, the U.K., Greece and Dubai.

The Drama Class

What Do We Teach?

For ages 5 to adult, we offer recreational and professional training in drama, film and television acting, improvisation and introductory workshops in specialized skills such as improv, dialects, voiceovers and many more.

Our actors have booked countless film, television and voiceover roles and have won numerous awards including several Joey Awards (Young Canadian Performers Award).

Acting is a craft and we respect that craft. We teach the fundamentals of acting and help our students express themselves with clarity and confidence.Oh and they have so much fun in the process too. If you are a creative soul, you have found your tribe.

We're All About Our Community

We Love Our Community....

and love taking part in community events such as The White Rock Farmer's Market, The Peace Arch Hospital Pumpkin Run, The Sea Festival in White Rock and Culture Days in White Rock.

We also love to donate funds from our performances whenever possible. We've collected thousands for Sources Food Bank, SPCA, the Surrey Food Bank, MS Society of Canada, the Alberta Fire Relief Fund and the Peace Arch Hospital.

In 2018, TDC and NUVO Music School joined efforts to organize a large Variety Showcase fundraiser for the Peace Arch Hospital featuring performances from their students. The event was widely praised and raised over $2500.

Working with Our Local Community Businesses:

The Drama Class is always looking for new ways to spread the word of the performing arts. We have worked with many local businesses to bring the arts to our community and to all.

Here is what we've been doing:

1. CREATING ARTS AND CULTURE OPPORTUNITIES

Founder and Artistic Director, Michele Partridge co-founded Peninsula Arts and Culture Alliance (PACA). Local arts and culture businesses and non-profit organizations meet monthly to promote each other's events. Arts collaborations usually occur at these meeting plus the annual event called "Creative Flow in White Rock" during the annual national Culture Days weekend in September.

 2. TEACHING IN OUR COMMUNITY

The instructors at TDC have been asked to host several improv events for their clients and staff for a variety of local businesses including:

  • Semiahmoo House

  • Amica White Rock

  • Culture Days in White Rock

  • Oceana Parc White Rock

  • Semiahmoo Arts

  • Semiahmoo Secondary School

  • Surrey Toastmasters

  • City of Surrey

  • South Surrey & White Rock Chamber of Commerce ...to name just a few.

Testimonials

"My children have both attended The Drama Class and have enjoyed themselves immensely. My daughter takes private coaching from Michele and says it is her favourite time in the world. Whatever magic it is that Michele does with her has worked as my daughter's improved technique and skill has caught the attention of people in Hollywood. But moreover this recommendation is for Michele who our entire family has come to love for being such an amazing and authentic person!"  - V. Lee, White Rock

"The Drama Class is great! Dayah was doing a lot of auditioning classes in the beginning and now she is moving towards a little more scene study. I like the pace the school is using, not pushing the kids too fast into scene study by gradually getting their confidence up." - Daljit, Surrey

"I just wanted to say thanks for all your time and effort put into your awesome audition classes. Ryder has had a wonderful time and he is signed up for the next session in January as well." - Shannon, Surrey

"Since moving to Vancouver, I have tried all of the acting studios downtown, but I really like The Drama Class."

- Mitchell Kummen ("When Calls the Heart", "Legends of Tomorrow")

"Just love learning from TDC. Always so much going on" - Greg Tunner ("Arrow")

"I just love my TDC family." - T. Rogers, Surrey

"Thank you so much to The Drama Class. I have learned so much!" - Luke Roessler ("Dead to Me", "It 2", "The Bad Seed")
