Workshop Description: The workshop will focus on the relationship and integration of the actor’s voice and body. Including: explorations of grounding, physical presence, opening of the body to facilitate ease of breath and an exploration of those parts of our bodies that support, make and shape sound. The second half of the workshop will be an exploration of the moving body and with a short piece of text (provided by the instructor). We will take a short 10-15 min break in the middle of the workshop to recharge our batteries.
What you will need: · Yoga mat · Loose fitting clothing suitable for a movement class. Layers are recommended. · Water bottle · Longer hair tied back. · Light healthy snack for recharging at the break. · Notebook and pen/pencil if you wish to take any notes.

Instructor: Elizabeth McLaughlin – MFA Liz is a Vancouver based Voice & Speech instructor, Dialect Coach and Actor who has been teaching and preforming for the past 32 years. At present Liz teaches at the Vancouver Film School, On The Mic and in the Film and TV industry as a Dialect Coach. Her recent coaching credits include: LITTLE FISH, LEGENDS OF TOMORROW, CHARMED, THE GOOD DOCTOR and JERUSALEM. Liz’s recent acting credits include: LOVE AT FIRST FLIGHT, RUBY HERRING MYSTERIES, CHESAPEAKE SHORES, DARK ANGEL AND THE GOOD DOCTOR. Liz holds an MFA in Classical Performance from The Shakespeare Theatre Company & GWU in Washington DC and her BFA from York University in Toronto. Liz has also studied with The National Voice Intensive (Canada), Knight Thompson Speech-work in New York and The Banff School of Fine Arts.
